THE CHALLENGE
MAKE A CIRCLE is an extraordinary documentary about early childhood education and follows a group of childcare providers who are determined to change how society values the education of its youngest citizens.
This project needed to balance traditional engagement strategies that fit within the guidelines of public television while also supporting advocacy efforts aimed at policy and and culture change on the issue.
The film sought national television distribution on PBS stations, a detailed campaign plan to support strategy and fundraising and educational and engagement materials to empower advocates and to stimulate educational sales of the film.
THE PROCESS
IMP approached several PBS stations to pitch the film for national distribution and facilitated pitch meetings with the filmmakers.
We conducted several deep-dive planning sessions with the client along with a BrainTrust including existing and likely partners for the project.
These sessions informed the crafting of an innovative project plan with a focus on digital video supported by national and local TV broadcasts, and a robust promotion and engagement strategy.
In partnership with our client engaged in a process of continued development and refinement of the plan to secure the needed support.
THE RESULTS
IMP successfully secured national PBS distribution via KQED in San Francisco with the film presented under the PBS brand and ultimately airing on my than 150 PBS stations nationwide.
IMP created educational and engagement materials to support a range of activities including professional development, classroom and community-based learning, screening and event support, and more.
IMP produced a suite of three national online events including film clips, longer screening segment, and guest speakers drawing over 1,000 live participants with event promotion reaching over 300,000 impressions.
IMP managed social media advertising to grow online audiences and support key content and created and distributed online newsletters to activate stakeholders and promote the film and campaign to public television stations nationwide.
